I saw a commercial for Life Unexpected a few weeks ago and when I found out it was filmed in Canada, I told Emily that I had found your next rant. I’m glad that I can speak these things into existence. Clearly I should combine my powers with Cort and Fatboy.

Awwww man. Seriously? You suggested a boycott on Columbia Sportswear and R.T.? What’s that mayor you’ve got the hots over done to deserve that kind of loyalty? Name it. I’ll listen.
If he’s worth staying, Portland will prove it without needing to threaten taking food off the table.
I don’t think that I’m necessarily saying “Hey! Sam is Grrreat!” so much as I’m simply thinking that dedicating time, money, and resources to a recall effort that already failed once is just bad for the city. The people of Portland already had the chance to get a recall vote underway and apparently weren’t interested. To watch the heads of two large local businesses put their efforts behind something like this is more of a head-scratcher for me than anything. Everything around here was already in the shitter long before Sam was mayor and I’m certainly not 100% sold on all of his policies (barely over 50% at last count in fact). That said, I’m bored with the whole “It’s Sam’s fault! He’s a LIAR!” thing – it hasn’t resulted in new jobs, it didn’t work last time, and it’s made supporters on both sides look more like a pack of fucking morons than anything.
I have nothing against Columbia or Tonkin and I said as much today. I’d just like our business leaders to make a little more sense in their actions. We’re all already knee deep in shit, removing Sam from office isn’t going to change that. Vote for the other guy next time.

I don’t see him as just a liar. More like what his lies did to rip the community. It was the carelessness of the lie, “anybody who’d think I’d get it on with a teen is a homophobe.” That was a dumb ass lie from a dumb ass who put himself above the people. He doesn’t speak for me or define me, when he slap ass labels people just to save his butt.
A recall is tough….it sucks the air right out of the room. Portland will get it right. Whatever way she blows. It’s hers to call.
Pulling a PETA or a Greenpeace move in our town against our business community…isn’t right. Not now. We can do it on the up and up. We’ve had too much of it the other way. I hate a clip board pushed in my face as much as you do, but if you can vouch for every damned listener to just chuckle at your suggestions without doing harm, you are way smarter than I give you credit for.
I can vouch for all but three of them. And I think only one of those three has a job.
Seriously though, I think we’re on the same page – just different sides of it (if even that). My comments won’t affect the bottom line of either business – they won’t even affect a single sale, there’s no way. I don’t think I’m claiming any sort of intelligence here at all either, I’m claiming that the listeners are a lot smarter than most people would probably give them credit for. They’ll ask questions, they’ll make up their own minds, or they’ll call bullshit on whatever they don’t agree with – just like you did.
Quite frankly, that’s the best part of my job. I get to hear what people really think about things.

I tell my friends hey you got to check this radio guy out because he’s a pill popping womanizing alcoholic and rants and makes me laugh like no one else! They say you mean Rush? And I laugh and I say no and then I read something like your comment and I realize you are way too smart and good to be Rush and you’re way too smart and good for my friends. You rock Robert.
Who is the host of the show with the sexy voice? Robert Wagner, I presume? Your voice is a great asset- probably the best in the business- you must have big balls, but why waste such huevos on saying pretty much nothing? I just tuned in because I agree, Portland Sucks! Then I listened for about 3 minutes and I heard a lot of “I don’t knows” and stumbling around. Whoever that chick is, a co-host?, she sounds either mesmerized or enchanted with you. Tell her to put the drool back in her mouth or maybe you just have your hands too close to her. Back off a little. Professional distance is important, eh? Doing a show everyday requires some research I would guess and maybe- notes? Great concept, really, but execution lives up to your name- it sucks.
Are you guys native Portlanders? You don’t sound like it. I’m not throwing around any nativist superiority trip or anything, but why did you move here and countless others before you? Because the natives. If you aren’t natives, and Eugene and Hood River don’t count, at least pick up on some native nuances like less dead space, less self importance, and more quick humor- even if it errs on the side of goofy or dorky. People like to laugh at long stretches in the morning, not just wait around for a tidbit every now and again. People will appreciate it more, trust me. KBOO has some great talk radio, not necessarily for its overly serious content, but for flow and snappiness. Explore the nativist bent a little and if you aren’t from here don’t be intimidated by it. We aren’t xenophobes, we appreciate anyone who moves here and thinks Portland Sucks. Because Portland Sucks Big Time. If you were born here, forgive me. But you have been away too long- get back in the trenches, its cold and rainy out here. Make us laugh or don’t expect us to tune in. Could you tackle some nonnatives out there like Adams, Lars Larson, and Byron Beck? Just read their Wikipedia pages- they’re nut jobs. Then there is Zusman and Rowe- with no Wikipedia pages! Why are the muckrakers themselves so secretive? No native I know invited them here, could they please leave now? Just a thought. I’ll check back soon, maybe.
