I love radio, and love talk radio in general. I have my whole life. If these guys do good, then so be it. If they don’t then they can suck it.
RW is a podcast, why all the hate?
He hasn’t taken any money from me, nor am I required to listen.
You listen to many podcasts? They have no competition. They either are good, or they get deleted from my I-tunes list. Not that hard to figure out.

I loved listening to Cort and Fatboy i used to go out of my way to turn have a radio around so i can tune into 101 in the afternoon.. I am so disappointed now i don’t think i can listen to 101 anymore

Robert, great show man. I feel the pain of much of Portland due to all of this. I have worked with Rick, Sarah, Tim, Cort, Fatboy, and know them all on a personal level as well, and it sickens me that my friends have all been fired to make way for That Ricker (much like “that Todd” in the film “Parenthood”)to get his greezy paws all over Portland radio. Way to keep things local Alpha. I suppose our definitions of local are quite different.

Anyway, discovered your show via C & F and as a fellow podcaster, I wanted to say how much I enjoy the show. Thanks for all the attention to this terrible week in Portland Radio.

I agree this fucking sucks and Cort/Fatboy show is the bees fucking knees. However, give Ricker a chance on KUFO. He was fucking amazing on KISW in Seattle. I have no fucking idea what the fuck he is doing by going from the 13th largest market in the United States to, well, let’s be honest y’all, fucking Portland. What the fuck does Portland have going as far as good program managers? Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

After reading a little more online it’s rumored that Alpha Broadcasting is bringing in shock jocks and new radio programs… this sounds even more annoying than Cort & Fatboy ever were. I’m glad I have a subscription to Sirius and really only have to listen terrestrial radio at work.

It’s too bad that you get canned so quickly after being with the station for so many years… but their program wasn’t even good. I’ve been stuck listening to it many times, I couldn’t see how people could tolerate it. I was shocked to see so many people liked their program. I really hope that 101 starts playing music and less radio shows. It seemed like every time you tuned to 101 some sort of a show was on, if I want to hear talk radio I’ll listen to AM radio.

This is terrible to hear, I have listened to Rick Emerson for nearly 10 years and have followed him from station to station during this time. Hopefully I will find him again in another home in the near future. Over the past 2 years I had also found myself growing on Cort and Fatboy as well. When Rick had made the jump to 101 it made it so I never needed to change my radio station. Well with both these shows gone, I think it is time I undo what I had done at Ricks request and 101 will no longer be my number 1 pre set, with all likely it will not be any pre set. It is a sad day for Portland.

The rat shit economy and the rest of life is bad enough, but when I add that to watching people I respect get the shaft (regardless of whether I saw it coming or not), yeah, it gets a little overwhelming. Being sick as a dog at the same time doesn’t help either.

I think you hit the nail on the head in that radio is a failing medium. People are generally tired of dopey d.j.s and repetitions of the same song over and over, and it’s been that way for years. Cort and Fatboy and the Rick Emerson Show demonstrated that radio personalities can actually be intelligent and entertaining and they brought myself as well as others back to the radio. KUFO’s ditched “the last hope for radio” in favor of a guy who’s fans frequently use the term “broski.” (did a Twitter search for @rickerdj)
