Top 5 Most Influential People in Oregon Sports – Your Picks, Not Canzano’s

by RobertWagner on August 6, 2009

timbersJohn Canzano had his list, but he’s just one guy. No offense to Mr. Canzano but lists always mean a lot more when they reflect the opinions of more than just a single person with an opinion – especially a sportswriter. Not to take anything away from sportswriting, not in the least, but sometimes it’s the fans themselves who know best.

So, with that in mind, last Monday we asked you – our listeners and/or readers – to send us your picks for the Most Influential People in Oregon Sports.

Here’s what we got…

#5 – Sam Adams and Randy Leonard (199 votes)

We put these two together for obvious reasons but most of you did too.

#4 – Phil Knight (276 votes)

Canzano’s pick for #1 is your pick for #4.

#3 – Brandon Roy (316 votes)

The Blazers without Brandon Roy at this point would be like Sassy’s without Malice.

#2 – Merritt Paulson (365 votes)

Three letters… M, L, and S.

#1 – The Timbers Army (710 votes)

The biggest, baddest, loudest, and proudest bunch of mutherfuckers I’ve ever had the pleasure of sharing beer and soccer with.

Hah! I totally forgot to send in my list, but this is pretty much exactly how mine was numbered, too.
