Separated At Birth: Portland Actor Harold Phillips and Steve Carell

Portland area actor extraordinaire Harold Phillips is a bit of a tough call. The first time I saw Harold, he was starring in a pretty cool interactive web movie called The Outbreak (which sadly was so successful that they can’t afford to let you see it anymore). Throughout the feature, which I watched (played?) about 30 times, Harold reminded me of the love child of Scott Bakula and Stephen Baldwin. Later on I saw Harold in another film (sorry, I can’t recall the name of it) and he seemed a bit older – a bit like Harrison Ford in The Fugitive. Then I run into this promo shot for yet another Haroldfilm and I can’t help but think what The Office COULD have been like.

By the way, Harold’s tweets should be required reading for anyone studying psychology. How one seemingly normal man can be so… weird… is beyond me.

Abso-frickin-lutely the point my friend. No one, and I mean NO ONE, plays a better “Innocent Bystander #1″ than Harold.

No.

One.

Hey Robert, I just NOW came across this post. Uh… Thanks? Seriously, though, I apreciate your support in my efforts to unseat Steve Carell from his comedic throne… good press like this helps me move from nipping at his heels to poking at his ankles :)

Oh, and for the record, The Outbreak has been taken down, but you can still find some scenes from it on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/user/SurviveTheOutbreak – you lose out on the interactive experience (the original interactive movie allowed you to make choices at the end of the each scene which would result the characters survival or death). As to the film in which I looked older… perhaps it was The Bicyclists? (http://www.thebicyclists.com/store.html)

I thought about taking up a collection to get The Outbreak put back into its proper form or maybe just trying to find some financing for it myself because I thought it was pretty cool and overlooked. Then again, that pretty much sums up most interesting new ideas these days… Bummer. A great little diversion for Zombie freaks and Haroldfans to say the least.
