OregonLive.com had an interesting piece on Governor Ted this morning stating that he is looking to ‘reset’ Oregon government. It’s a long article and largely speculative but the basic skinny is this: “Where the fuck is Governor Ted in this time of economic crapola?”. One of the more interesting points they bring up… Governors Schwarzenegger and Gregoire (California and Washington respectively in case you live under a rock) are giving the citizens of their states nearly up to the minute information about how they’re dealing with governmental financial meltdown, in other words they are doing exactly what they were elected to do. What do we get? Dead silence.
That’s right, short of a few empty headed threats nearly a month ago about letting lesser criminals go free and a promise that he’d take it in the shorts just like he’ll make Oregon teachers do, Governor Ted has been pretty much MIA. He won’t spend his precious Rainy Day Fund to help things along and the best his PR Machine can do is spout a bunch of crap about a “reset” of Oregon government. Don’t you mean “reboot”? That’s the 21st century term there Teddy, we haven’t used “reset” since all computers were big beige boxes.
Are we to assume that Teddy is busy with his thinking cap on? Pondering the moon and sun’s alignment and figuring out the best way out of this quagmire? No… I think we’re better off dealing with the reality that he’s locked himself in his office and is freaking right the fuck out because he hasn’t got a goddamn clue what to do now that the sky truly IS falling. So ineffective is Teddy that he won’t even spend his goddamn rainy day fund to buy himself (and his state) some time while a plan is formulated. He can say “I’m working on it” until he turns fucking blue – I don’t believe it, the Republicans don’t believe it, and his own damn party doesn’t believe it.
If it looks like a duck, smells like a duck, and locks itself in its office like a duck…. guess what?
It’s probably a duck.
