You’ve never been to Mary’s? It bills itself as the oldest strip bar in the Pac NW, and if you enjoy patronizing strip bars you ought to check it out at least once (go on a weeknight, less crowded and no cover). Personally I prefer the lower-key Magic Garden in Chinatown, and my favorite in town is probably Sassy’s (which coincidentally is stumbling distance from my apartment).
Also the tacos come from El Grillo, the taqueria next door to Mary’s (which also serves as the food option for the beer nerd haven across the street, Bailey’s Taproom).
Walked by it a million times now but never have I ventured in, now I’ll have to. I was aware of it, it’s just one of those places that I’ve never connected the name to the place. The taco thing makes sense though – man, here I thought “dude, that’s the most delicious smelling strip club I’ve ever witnessed!”.
On the other hand, I went to Sassy’s about 10 years ago and had what I thought was the most amazing mushroom cheeseburger of all time. How fucked up are we? The subject is nude women and we’re chattin’ up beer and food. Ahh, no one can say that Portland isn’t a very COMPLETE city. Life is better here.
