Think Portland Police Are Bad? Think Again…

I like cops. In general, I really do like the police and have a ton of respect for them, the work they do, the risks they take and the bullshit they have to put up with in order to keep us from slipping into total anarchy. Having said that, we all know that cops are human too and they make mistakes. The video below clearly is NOT a mistake. This is King County Deputy Paul Schene, 31, who pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor assault in King County District Court on Friday. Charged with excessive force after pummeling a 15 year old girl in a holding cell, Deputy Schene is shown clearly stepping into the role of “bad cop”.

Can we put a funny twist on this? No. Watching the video is just plain disturbing and it speaks for itself. Schene’s attorney has argued against making the video public (gee, I wonder why?) because it will piss people off (gee, really?).

Watch the video and tell me this asshole doesn’t deserve to lose his job and spend a few years in a cell of his own.

Why is what he did a bad thing? 15 or not, a fifteen year old, can rape, kill, abuse small children, do heroin and be smartasses in inaproppriate situations. Don’t you think that the young lady will think twice before she mouths off to a police officer again. Put everything into perspective before judging the police officer. Imagine how she would have been treated in Mexico after such disrespect. OH I KNOW. We are not in Mexico, but that is entirely my point. “Respect your elders” has become pretty foreign in this country.

Josh, I completely agree with you up to a point. She didn’t rape, kill, abuse children, etc., she was caught joyriding in a car belonging to a family member. Potential for danger? Sure. Did she mouth off? She’s admitted to as much. I’m with you – we’ve raised a generation of kids now that have little to no respect for anything or anyone and as I said above, authority figures should be respected, period.

At one point in the video though the officer pulls his hand back and APPEARS TO strike the girl twice, after which she more or less goes limp and the other officer pulls away and just sort of gives a blank stare for several seconds. Without audio and without another angle, it’s hard to say for sure what he does exactly – and that’s what due process is for. I’m very interested to see what the other officer says about it, he’ll undoubtedly be questioned.

dear josh, if it was your daughter or wife or girlfriend you’d think differently. policemen that violate the law or civil rights should be punished to the full extent of the law. every action in that video makes me sick. so does your comment. respect goes both ways asshole. didn’t your mother ever teach you that two wrongs don’t make a right?

“Don’t you think that the young lady will think twice before she mouths off to a police officer again”
yeah, or maybe she will revert to hating every authority figure she will ever come in contact with ever since that disgusting, excuse for an officer of the law slammed her head against the wall and took her to the ground. Wow, what a good man we have, who reacts that way to the petty insults from a tiny, 15 yr old girl….If you honestly agree with the conduct of this officer than I hope to god that you are sterile and have no children…And while Mexico is corrupt and lawless in many aspects, coming from experience as a Mexican, this would not be tolerated. Yeah, it would happen, the same way it happens here. But don’t think this is some sort of tolerable offense in our country.
