I’ve been supporter of Mayor Sam Adams since his election, no secret there. I was rather looking forward to watching his first LIVE State of the City address this afternoon on my computer as tickets were sold out a long time ago. Thankfully, dear ol’ reliable KATU news promised me a LIVE video feed from the event so I busted out the popcorn and started watching.
So, I’m bummed KATU. Not only are you either NOT providing sound with your LIVE InterWebNet broadcast (in which case this is fucking pointless because the Mayor, attractive though he may be, it just not interesting enough to watch without sound for very long) – OR, this has something to do with your shit handling of streaming video and my Mac …. nope, isn’t working on my PC either.
Secondly, as I’m watching the mayor (can’t listen to him obviously!) it comes to my attention that Sam looks to have lost about 20% of his girth. He’s a pudgy but “working on it” kind of guy so I’m thinking “maybe he’s really getting the exercise in lately!” – nope – turns out you dipshits STILL haven’t figured out how to stream your new-fangled HD cameras to the proper aspect ratio on the InterWebNet (again, not surprising since you left the volume knob turned off too)…. The result – ultra-compact Sam Adams, looking like someone just pressed his head with a Cuisinart Sandwich Maker. See below:

What the hell? Not this isn’t the end of the world but if I can’t trust you to do simple things that the Geek Squad at my local Best Buy can do – things like ACTUALLY BROADCASTING THE AUDIO and ACTUALLY BROADCASTING THE VIDEO IN THE CORRECT FORMAT, how can I trust you to report the news?
KATU, you’re still my favorite station but c’mon – if you can’t handle this crap, hire someone who can – there are about 1,400 Circuit City kids out there without jobs right now, go see if they’re looking for work.

Hey there. I’m sorry this wasn’t up to your standards but if you had to deal with the old tech and budget constraints and time mgmt. issues that we at KATU had to deal with every single day you probably would let a few things slip too. Please don’t pass this on to them. I am defending myself and not the KATU NAZI Party here.
I love to watch your news casts and like your weather crew. But I have a question about the loss of people in the weather crew. What happened to Carlos Faura? I enjoyed listening to him do the weather and help with news on the weekends. Thank you for your attention.
