We all know that Salem has a bit of a drug problem (epidemic?) but who would have guessed that Governor Kulongoski was smokin’ some of the local grow when he announced today that all of the states education system funding fears could be laid to rest simply by asking teachers to work for nothing?
Gosh! Is it REALLY that easy Ted? Why didn’t we think of that before? Why, just last week I could have had my car fixed for free simply by suggesting to the mechanic “hey buddy, if you want us all to get through these hard times you should just fix my car for nothing”. I’m going to rush out and try this right now! See ya later folks, I’m off to my local Fred Meyer to let them know that I shouldn’t be expected to pay for groceries anymore either!
We’re inching closer and closer to socialism every day…

You obviously don’t care about the education of the children and you have said as much before. Keep your nose out of business that doesn’t pertain to you or that you cant relate to. It suits you better.
I suppose keeping teachers bound to their desks by guilt is a better solution Sondra? You communist dreamers really turn my stomach.
Gee, you mean I can’t care about kids gettin’ gooder learnin’ AND teachers gettin’ a paycheck at the same time? Golly…. That sucks.
If you stand with ignorance you will be counted with it J.Wilkerson. Children need educations and the education system in Oregon needs our support. Not cynicism.
YHA RIGHTT!!!! CIRCUIT CITY COULD BE SAVED!!!!
The Governor has lost all confidence with this proposal. You’re right on the money, current Oregon government won’t rest until the state flag has a lot more red in it. This didn’t work for the former Soviet Union, why would it work for us?
Unfortunately Tird Kulongoski is the third incompetent governor that we have had in a row. It still amazes me how Oregonians keep voting for governors that do not have a single clue about the basic laws of economics. Oregon was having financial difficulties in 2002 and 2003 when the rest of the nation was doing very well economically speaking. You need to look at economics from the view of what incentives you are creating not what goals are being pursued.
