… and the winner is … the lucky inmates at eight Oregon State minimum security prisons that could potentially be cut loose early due to lack of funding.
Yeah, right. I’ll believe that one when I see it. If City Commissioner Randy Leonard needs someone to demonstrate how to be a Grade A Drama Queen then he need look no further than Governor Ted. Today the state released its list of possible budget cutbacks that might be required if Obama’s Super Stimulus Package fails to impress (and it will). Pipe dream cutbacks include releasing thousands of inmates prematurely and/or shortening the public school year by about a month.
Sound shocking? Well, it’s supposed to. Never mind that Governor Ted and his minions have millions holed up in their so called “rainy day fund”, they’d much rather attempt to scare the piss out of Oregon citizens in an effort to get, and spend, someone else’s money – Uncle Sam’s in this case. This whole yawn inducing idea reeks of MAXIMUM SHOCK VALUE and little in the way of common sense – the cornerstone of Teddy’s Governorship so far in my opinion. If you claim that the sky is falling just enough then people get distracted. When people stay distracted long enough, the don’t realize just how piss poor your politics and budgeting really are.
I’m appalled that Governor Ted would even suggest such a thing. Yes, the economy is bad – duh! – but we need someone with answers, not yet another Chicken Little douche towel running around making absurd suggestions and posing 1,001 empty threats.
Don’t worry Oregon – those inmates aren’t going anywhere, unfortunately all that tax money you’ve been gouged for over the past many years that’s been socked away into that rainy day fund ain’t going anywhere either – except maybe to line a few pockets in Salem that is.
