Guns were a blazin’ last night in downtown Portland as some mental defective shot 9 people down by Kell’s Irish Pub, apparently at random, before shooting himself. Holy shit, this is genuine real news here and in stark contrast to the aggravating bullshit created by the media lately – yes, I mean The Oregonian. While the story itself is obviously quite tragic, 2 people died after all and the gunman was not one of them, it’s the positioning of the stories on the front page of Oregonlive.com today that has me fuming just a little bit.
If you’re like me, you’ve been getting sicker and sicker of seeing Mayor Sam Adams on the front page of Oregonlive.com – all conjecture and no facts, just a bunch of random thoughts and opinions from everyone NOT involved in the so-called scandal and nary a word from Beau Breedlove – the REAL “victim” if there actually is one (I know, everyone in Portland right now likes to consider themselves a “victim” of Sam’s sex-lie but ultimately it’s Beau Breedlove that might or might not have been taken advantage of). Anyway, that all changed this morning as The Oregonian interviewed Mr. Breedlove last night and got the real scoop …. and where does the story end up? WAY DOWN ON THE PAGE.
Now, I’m by no means downplaying the shooting. In fact, I’m a downtown resident so I’m concerned about shootings anywhere near here. But the city … no, wait … the whole damn state has been waiting for some resolution from Sam Adams and/or Beau Breedlove and now that Mr. Breedlove has stepped forward and stated that he knew exactly what he was doing with Sam Adams, the story is banished to the lower reaches of the Oregonlive.com website. Why? Because Beau Breedlove’s statements in the interview don’t damn Sam Adams, that’s why. The Oregonian was hoping for something steamier than a simple kiss or two, they wanted full on buggery and slander and they wanted it really, really bad. Beau Breedlove has more or less set the record straight here and is it considered newsworthy? No, not really… Not by the standards of The Brain-Raping Oregonian.
If only The Oregonian could make their bias just a little less obvious. Perhaps it’d be slightly easier to have a piss drop of respect left for them.
