There you go Portland, another sensationalist headline for you to act “oh so shocked” about. In true whiney whitey Portland tradition, our fair city today made every effort to overshadow the historic inauguration of the nations first black President with political lynching of Mayor Sam Adams. Well, fuck you Portland and fuck you Willamette Weak. By choosing to focus on the private acts of two consenting adults and their bedroom behavior you’ve demonstrated an uncanny lack of maturity and proven once and for all why we’re the city of spoiled white creative shitheads rather than a thriving metropolis of hard-working business men and women. As a city we now have all of the credibility of an American Idol bloopers episode, more National Inquirer than Time Magazine.
For Police Association secretary-treasurer Bitch Cop, I mean Mitch Copp (whoops), a man with what is traditionally a woman’s job, to request the resignation of Mayor Adams is a crock of bullshit. Mayor Adams lied about something that wasn’t anyone’s business to begin with. The allegations that he had sex with a minor don’t taint Mayor Adams, they taint the reputation of our city. We’ve reduced ourselves to a common lynch mob – we want blood and we don’t even know why because we don’t have the facts. We feel betrayed and yet we aren’t the victims here at all because there is no proven victim in this case.
If Portland is so goddamned progressive (a laughable notion given the events of the past 24 hours), perhaps we should conduct ourselves with more maturity than that of an 14 year old gossip-hungry teenager. Wait for facts, don’t jump to conclusions – especially today of all days. While the rest of the nation celebrates the end of 8 years of failed government we’re ready to give up on our own based on false information and smear campaigns conducted by bored journalists.
If Sam Adams truly did anything wrong that affects our city – yes, remove him from office. If, however, his only crime is hiding a relationship that was none of your fucking business in the first place – leave him alone to do the job he was elected to do. And for the love of Christ, don’t believe every fucking thing you read in any metro alterna-rag newspaper – they print that crap to sell advertising… But Portland wouldn’t know anything about that, they don’t teach commerce and media to junior high kids.

I disagree. When politicians lie it is definitely our business. They represent us and their actions should be scrutinized at all times. If we the people cannot trust Sam Adams to sleep with adults then what can we trust him with?
By the way, I find your mention of “alterna-rag” newspapers offensive. I work for one.

I’m sorry to hear that you don’t have a real job and I apologize for offending you. If there’s anything that I can do to make your stay on the planet significantly more brief or unhappy, please let me know and I’ll certainly do whatever I can to accommodate. Perhaps if you’d gone to school to become something more relevant than a hack reporter? It’s not too late is it? I sincerely hope that you have a sibling in your family so that your parents still have a chance at being proud of at least one of their children. God knows you’ve failed them miserably.
